April?? How did that happen?

April 13, 2011

One day at a time.

As I write to you, my husband and oldest daughter are in Haiti, joining a Work & Witness group from Denver.  Yesterday, today and tomorrow, they are in a primitive area, some sleeping in tents and “squat potties” for facilities.  Needless to say, my prayers for them are constant!  (update: they have returned as of April 19)

I have a lot to cover and will do so quickly.
First of all – if your church still has monies for the Children’s Heaven Train offering, please send those as soon as possible to our district financial administrator.  Our new project involves the Haiti Water Project.  I have enclosed a flyer of information.  I apologize for the quality.  Soon after this printing, we replaced our computer printer!   Also – there will be a date change for Children’s Missions Day this coming year.  It is being changed to October, to try to avoid winter weather.  So – this cuts short our time to save for the Haiti Water Project.  I just wanted to give you the heads up as you approach summer!!

30-Hour Famine
is quickly approaching!  Your teens have been informed of this at BLAST and were able to pick up packets there.  This is a great way to experience what children all over the world experience daily – hunger.  We will be meeting at Bedford church on Friday night where the kids will hear speakers and play games all centered on “hunger”.  Then, on Saturday, they will assist with Heaven Train, and other Cleveland area ministries.  On Saturday afternoon, they will come together for a meal before they leave for home.  Before coming, they will get sponsors to support them in their fast.  The money can go to our Nazarene work in Malawi, or to our work in Haiti.  You get to choose.  If your teens have not heard of this event, please let them know as soon as possible!  Details on our Facebook page.  Check out the latest feeds  on the right of this post!  While there – why not like our Facebook Fan club!

Lastly, we have some missionaries on the district in coming days.
Many have open dates.

Please consider hosting a missionary.  They would much rather come to your church than to be sitting in a hotel room.  Please contact Vicki Champer ASAP if you would be willing to host them.

The Riches from Ecuador are here the week after Easter – and have a lot of open evenings.  Dwight grew up in Haiti as a missionary kid and Carolyn was raised in Kansas.  Both are graduates of MidAmerica Nazarene University.  Dwight is also a graduate of Nazarene Theological Seminary.
Dwight is the field strategy coordinator for the South American North Andean Field which comprises the countries of Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela. Carolyn serves as the nurse for the Seminary, coordinates the Seminary food service, and is the office administrator for the North Andean field. The Riches have two children Bryan and Stefanie.

Perhaps a small group could host them one evening?

Our LINKS missionaries, the Myers, are here in June.  Please contact Vicki right away.

Okay – one more thing.
I know Easter is just days away.  Many of our churches still take Easter offerings.  The Global Church of the Nazarene is really struggling financially.  We have 100 less missionaries on the field than we did just three years ago.  We need to make this a matter of prayer and do all we can to help fund HIS mission!

Please call or email me (or send a Facebook message) if you have any questions!
I’d love to hear from you!
